Proso Millet (Panicum milaceum)

Warm Season Annual

Proso Millet is an upright annual forage. It is one of the earliest millets in western Canada. It has medium water use, moderate drought tolerance. Salinity tolerance is low as is the shade tolerance. Height does not vary much with temperature or moisture as compared to foxtail millets. Coarse stem gets crimped well allowing decent drydown.

Strengths:

May mature too quickly.

Grazing:

Good for stockpiled or swath grazing.

Very good. Ready to cut 60-70 days after emergence.
