Warm Season

Mung beans are an upright branching annual legume that are related to cow peas and azuki beans, but is more competitive in nature. It has good drought tolerance and grows quickly when seeded in the late spring or through the summer. Salinity tolerance is regarded as moderate. They will not tolerate any frost.

Strengths:

Concerns:

Plant does contain tannins and trypsin inhibitors at low levels.

Grazing:

Decent regrowth after grazing, assuming nights are warm.

Hay:

By itself, not huge tonnes, but performs well in a mix of warm season grasses.
